The Medieval Store
Arming Dagger
Unlike weapons meant for heavy warfare, a knight’s arming sword was his everyday sidearm. Its broad stiff blade was effective and versatile, able to be used in cut-and-thrust swordplay to devastating effect. The Medieval Store Arming Sword is based on an original in the Wallace Collection, and this is the companion arming dagger to the Arming Sword. Similar to its partner, this dagger would be an accurate representation of what a knight or noble would have on them at all times to accomplish a variety of tasks.
The Arming dagger is made of 5160 high carbon steel and Tempered to a Rockwell of 53. The handle is made of wood covered in black leather. While definitely suitable for combat, the Arming Dagger could also be used for everyday activities. For example, if you are looking for something to stab food with at the table, this would certainly be a historically appropriate choice – although it may alarm your family.
